An Introduction
A blog. I never thought I would have a blog. I also never thought I would have dogs that are followed by 40,000 people on social media, so I guess life is full of surprises. I toyed with the idea of starting a blog for a long time but was always “too busy”. That’s the thing about life though, you have to make time for the things that are important to you. So after years of consideration, I’ve decided it is time to make time. So, welcome to our blog.
A brief introduction to us; I am Tori, a 24 year old…well, I don’t know what exactly I am yet, but I hope to figure that out soon. I graduated college last year with a degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship and I am using that degree now as I work for an influencer marketing agency. It’s kind of an interesting story how I got my start there, so I will start at the beginning.
I got my first puppy of my very own in April, 2015. An adorable little ball of gold of white, I named her Amelia, after Amelia Earhart. I was completely and totally obsessed with my new puppy and I probably drove all of my friends on social media crazy when I shared at least ten photos of her every day. I decided to start an Instagram account solely for her, never knowing what it would grow into or how it would change my life.
I posted regularly on the account with no true path or plan, just wanting to document how fast Amelia was growing up. The weeks and months went by and my account grew quickly. I later added Pippi to the account as well. Pippi was supposed to be a temporary foster until she found a home through a shelter my family and I volunteer with. However, she needed a lot of help understanding that the world was not a scary place and after she had lived with us for a few months, I could not stand to separate her and Amelia, so I adopted her myself.
Once I realized that my account was growing fast and I could turn my page into something more, I invested in a camera, editing software, and got serious about what I was posting. I got involved in my current job because of my experience being a creator. I absolutely love working with other creators and helping them find brands to represent. It really is incredible to be on both sides as an influencer and a marketer.
Not only did my Instagram account lead me to my job, but it also recently took us on an incredible road trip to Colorado. I will save the specifics for another article, but it was one of the best weeks of my life. We got to explore some of the most beautiful places in the state, even though it rained or snowed most of the days we were there. We also got to meet many other wonderful accounts and put faces to names for people that we communicate with daily through Instagram, but had never gotten to meet before. What was really the most amazing thing about the trip was the absolute, pure happiness it inspired for Amelia, Pippi, and I. To see them so curious and explorative was heart-warming. It made me realize that I want to travel as much as possible, with my dogs at my side.
It really is incredible how one decision can alter the course of your life. I never would have guessed that something as silly as creating an Instagram account for my puppy would have the impact that it has. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have found through it though and I cannot wait to share more with you all. Until then, thanks for reading!
